Acid Reflux

Acid reflux is a condition in which stomach acid or bile makes its way up into the tube that runs to your stomach and can cause burning pain (heartburn), trouble swallowing, and sometimes even food to come back up into the mouth. The medical term for this condition is gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD and it is typically treated with over-the-counter medications that reduce stomach acid production. While this may be an effective therapy in the short-term, it can lead to nutrient deficiencies and improper digestion over the long-term. Acid reflux is a very treatable condition and often responds well to simple dietary and lifestyle changes.
