6 Easy Ways to Detox

Skip all of the fancy and expensive products, you can start detoxing with items you can find in just about any grocery store!  Detoxifying neutralizes unwanted toxic chemicals and prepares them for elimination out of the body. In today’s world, avoiding harmful chemicals is increasingly difficult, so it is especially important to support your body’s detoxifying processes to keep yourself healthy.  Here are a some great ways to start detoxing your body today.

Drink lemon water

This drink is extremely detoxifying and energizing and can be consumed hot or cold.  It aids in digestion, helps to cleanse your liver and boosts your immune system in addition to other health benefits.  Add in some ginger for zing and flavor!

Detox baths

Some options for detox baths are bentoninte clay, apple cider vinger, and Epsom salt. Epsom salt baths are an excellent source of magnesium and sulfur, relax muscles and joints, reduce inflammation, and flush toxins and heavy metals from the body. 

Simply pour 2 cups of Epsom salt into very warm water as bath is filling. Soak for 15-30 minutes, rinse, and towel-dry. 

Drink fresh cold-pressed juice

Juicing is a great way to pack in nutrients in high quantities that you couldn’t get otherwise. Also, because the fiber is taken out, it is much softer on the digestive tract and id more easily absorbed than consuming all of these foods whole. A great starter juice:  lemon, ginger, spinach, apple and cucumber.

Not a juicing person? Here are some smoothie recipes that can be easily made with just a blender.

Green machine

  • 1 bunch kale
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 chunk of ginger

Protein Detox Smoothie

  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups spinach

Apple Berry Detox Smoothie

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 large apple
  • 2 cups spinach
  • Unsweetened almond or coconut milk

Sip a detox tea

Some key ingredients that are great for detox are:  ginger, dandelion root, ginger, and licorice root. Yogi is a wonderful brand, and I love the inspirational quotes on the inside! Detox teas help allow the body to process and release the toxins it is overloaded with in every day life such as air pollution, pesticides, abd packaged foods. It is imperative that the body releases these toxins so that our body can remain healthy and vital.

Get a massage

Working through the soft tissue, muscles and the deep connective tissue fascia helps increase circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system and remove toxins from the body faster than the body could on its own. Think of a massage as a gently loosening of the things from your body that it no longer needs. Enjoy the relaxation.  Be sure to drink water afterwards to help maximize the release of toxins.

Sweat

Hot yoga, intense exercise, or the sauna are all great ways to detox your body via sweat.  Sweating is a major way the body releases toxins, so it is great to stimulate that process.
