Arthritis is a broad term for any disorder that involves inflammation of the tissue lining the joints. There are over 100 types of arthritis. It is the leading cause of disability in America and can affect people of all ages and genders, although it is most commonly becomes an issue for people as they get older. The most common types are degenerative arthritis, also called osteoarthritis, and inflammatory arthritis, also called rheumatoid arthritis.  Symptoms of arthritis include joint pain and stiffness, and may include decreased ability to fully move the joint, local warmth, swelling and redness.
