Lupus

Lupus is an auto-immune disease, which causes the body’s immune system to attack it's own organs and tissues.   Lupus causes chronic inflammation that can damage many different parts of the body including the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, and brain.  Lupus can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are so similar to other diseases. The most distinctive feature of lupus which is seen in most, but not all cases, is a rash in the shape of a butterfly on the cheeks.
