Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by inflammation and ulcers in the large intestine and/or rectum.  Symptoms usually develop slowly and vary in severity depending on the location of the disease.  These symptoms may include diarrhea, blood in the stool, abdominal pain, rectal pain, fatigue, and weight loss.  Ulcerative colitis is a serious condition that in some cases can cause life-threatening complications.  For this reason you should seek treatment by a physician.
